Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions offers Fort Lewis College students preferred acceptance

This new partnership, along with new FLC programs like the Pre-Health Certificate, will add to the College’s health sciences offerings, giving students more avenues to join the healthcare field. The College was also recently awarded just over $3 million to begin designing a new Health Sciences & Athletics Complex on campus.

Rotem Ishay won an individual national championship with the FLC cycling team, with the assistance of a local performance center’s fitness testing. Now, not only does Ishay run that same center—he has also brought his career as an exercise specialist back to campus through a unique partnership. Ishay (Exercise Specialist, ’12) is now the director of the Durango Performance Center, a sports lab that provides performance testing to both elite-level athletes and everyday people who want to improve their health, wellness, and performance.

When Dolph Kuss first arrived in Durango in 1953, he says he was "one of the few people other than cattle people who'd ever go into what is now the Weminuche Wilderness Area. Associate Professor of Exercise Science and Gender & Women’s Studies Dr. Marcy Jung’s career at Fort Lewis College is filled with impressive achievements. From the 1988 FLC Volleyball team she coached being inducted into the FLC Athletic Hall of Fame to years spent working on campus wellness initiatives to offering the Commencement invocation each year. It’s accomplishments like these that earned her the 2014-15 Fort Lewis College Achievement Award.
