With a heartfelt farewell that included a scavenger hunt and a cheeky slideshow, the FLC community said goodbye to a president who thought outside the box, took risks, and walked at 100 miles per hour in a whirlwind of energy with one question in mind: What will we do next for our students?

More than 400 FLC students graduated on May 6 at a ceremony addressed by Thomas J. Vilsack, the 32nd United States Secretary of Agriculture. 

Following a highly competitive national search, Mario Martinez was announced as Fort Lewis College's new provost and vice president of Academic Affairs on April 13, 2023. Dr. Stritikus’ resume tells of a life dedicated to education and creating opportunities for students. He is coming to FLC from his position as deputy director of K-12 Education at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, where he has led funding initiatives in teacher prep, innovation and education.Previous to the Gates Foundation, Dr. Stritikus was dean of the College of Education at the University of Washington (UW), where he also taught.
