Group counseling sessions

Explore your concerns, learn from others' experiences, and discover new aspects of yourself in relation to others in a topical group setting. Groups typically include 6-10 students who meet regularly with group counselors.

Each group has a focus, like women’s issues, existential concerns, or relationship to nature. By exploring these topics, you have the opportunity to give and receive feedback, gain new insights and understandings that may help you face your unique challenges, and even open up powerful new relationships.

Contact the Counseling Center to schedule a “group screening” with the facilitator, or fill out our to have us reach out to you. This brief chat will help determine if the group is a good fit for you. Group counseling sessions are free for all students (except Healing Through Yoga.)

Artful Healing Group

Artful Healing Group

Fridays, 2 - 4 pm
September 13 — November 15

Counseling Center

Artful Healing is a group focused on healing from trauma. Recognizing trauma can mean many things; the Artful Healing group defines it as any experience that feels so overwhelming it leaves you helpless, out of control, and experiencing symptoms that prevent you from living your full potential.

We'll discuss how trauma affects our brains and bodies and provide tools for healing while incorporating fun, art-filled activities and connecting with others. The focus will be on working towards healing, developing skills, self-understanding, and increasing self-compassion, not discussing or processing traumatic experiences.

Contact the Counseling Center at 970-247-7212 or counselingcenter@fortlewis.edu to schedule an initial appointment with the facilitator, Sandy Gurule, LCSW.
