Engineering students develop ocean-going research tool to study seed migration

As their senior design project, a team of undergraduate researchers in the FLC Physics & Engineering department created an ocean-faring platform to carry a GPS signaling system over long distances. The device even looks like a coconut, allowing it to both float like the real thing while being camouflaged from curious eyes that might cut its journey short.

FLC professor鈥檚 research on CO2 and plant growing seasons gains national attention

Dr. Heidi Steltzer, Fort Lewis College assistant professor of biology, was part of a research team looking at how higher atmospheric CO2 concentration resulting from fossil fuel pollution affected the growing season of plants. The research project was a partnership between Fort Lewis College, Colorado State University, and the USDA Agricultural Research Service.
