College can be a very stressful time in life. It is definitely a challenge balancing school, work, a social life, and still finding time to take care of your health. I’ve had to face this struggle during my time at the Fort and thanks to our Student Wellness services, I’ve been able to educate myself on the importance of balancing my crazy schedule while still making time to take...

Hozhoni Days marks 50 years of celebrating Native culture

Fort Lewis College President Dene Thomas crowns the 2013-14 Miss Hozhoni, Chantel Johnson.  Its Navajo name means "Days of beauty" -- a description perfectly suited to Hozhoni Days, an annual celebration of pageantry and cultures that is the campus' premiere spring event.

VIDEO: A day in the life of Jake

What is it like to be a student at Fort Lewis College? In our "Day in the life" series, we'll explore student life at FLC through the eyes of our students. I am an English Communication Major and throughout my time on the campus news magazine The Independent, I have moved through various positions. I started as a Print Reporter and I transitioned to become Online Manager and now for a year and a half I have been Editor in Chief.

When the snow flies, FLC slides, glides, skis, and rides

When winter arrives at Fort Lewis College, there's only thing to do: Get outside! Fortunately, here in beautiful and rugged southwestern Colorado there are plenty of places and ways to get out-of-doors, with adventures suited to any and every skill level. And at FLC – and in Durango – there are plenty of others excited to head out there with you.

Involvement: The key to success

But after really questioning my decision to be in school, I came to the conclusion that the bare minimum isn’t enough.

Academic assistance for all

While there are practically limitless ways in which Fort Lewis College is a special place, I have been particularly impressed with how committed Fort Lewis is in ensuring academic resources are abundant. Whether you need help with your advanced differential equations class or you’re trying to unravel what Kant’s categorical imperative is really all about, there are plentiful...
