There are many topics to choose from because our faculty and staff have designed these half-semester, one-credit courses around topics they're interested in and passionate about. They can't wait to share their knowledge and excitement with you!

In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of pickleball. We will focus on the importance of teamwork, exercise, and healthy competition. Assuming most students are completely or relatively new to the sport, we will start with the basics and work to intermediate-level play.
KDUR is a volunteer-powered campus-community radio station that will work with first-year students to connect them to campus and community resources while incorporating real-world skills in audio editing, interviewing, podcasting, and media. Students in the course will also learn about new music, news programming, and being a Skyhawk!

From video games to movies to books, science is everywhere! But whose is best? Why is lousy science so entertaining? Why do scientists have so much fun asking questions? In this course, you and a small group will tackle the good and bad of your favorite science fiction media.
This course was designed to help create and cultivate meaningful relationships at FLC and beyond. Over the first eight weeks of the semester, you will gain important skills in communication, boundary setting, consent, sexual health, and more. Students can identify and understand critical foundations for fostering healthy relationships through active participation in and outside of class. This course emphasizes the importance of identifying, applying, and practicing these foundational skills to foster romantic, platonic, and familial relationships outside class.
In this launch course, we will spend much of our time trying new teas. While we have our weekly tea parties, we will also spill the college tea. In other words, we will talk about all the things you should know to be successful in college.
This course is specially designed for first-year student-athletes to successfully transition into academics, athletics, and life at Fort Lewis College. It will support your journey to success on and off the field. We'll celebrate the determination and enthusiasm you bring to your sport and learn how to apply that mindset in the classroom, too. We'll learn about study skills, connecting with campus resources, and how to support each other during this exciting transition to college.
As first-time Native American college students, you are navigating a new world you have only heard stories about. Now, it’s time to create your own story by connecting with other Native students, making new friends, and exploring what the Fort has to offer. But “it is up to you.”
You'll be navigating a new and exciting world at FLC! This course will help you thrive during your first year in college by building your stress management skills. We'll also learn self-efficacy techniques to keep your brain functioning at its highest levels.

Explore Fort Lewis College with other transfer students. Build a network of new friends in a similar situation and learn how to optimize campus resources. If you have been to college before but not to FLC, this course will assist you in becoming a successful Skyhawk.
M/W 2:30-3:25 p.m.
The course provides students with a basic molecular understanding of their bodies by exploring what we are made of, what happens when we eat food, how our bodies deal with toxins, and how we heal. Students will conduct mini-research projects about molecular aspects of their own bodies and present their findings.
