FLC engineering students see the future in [VIDEO]

White nose syndrome is a disease that threatens the future of many bat species nationwide.  Which is why Fort Lewis College Biology professors Steve Fenster and Erin Lehmer are spending the month of June at an abandoned mine in the San Luis Valley.

After a several year absence, FLC has restored its cannon. The piece of artillery was traditionally fired at the beginning and end of football games, as well as after every touchdown. Here, a team of FLC employees undergoes training for safe firing technique to "bring back the BOOM" to the upcoming semester.

The FLC Climbing Team, Fort Lewis College's newest club sport, reached great heights this year in its first year of competition. The team competes in the USA Climbing’s collegiate division in male and female speed climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering events for both individual and team scores.

Now this is a wilderness-style graduation! That's not to say the walk down the stage in Whalen Gymnasium isn't lovely and powerful. But some graduates like to go out the same way they spent a good chunk of their time while at FLC: Rafting down a river, camping in the wilderness, and hanging with good friends who like the to do same.

Five Fort Lewis College graphic design students have been recognized by Graphis: The International Journal of Visual Communication, for their talents in design and advertising.

Fort Lewis College was a prominent presence at the 44th annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic over Memorial Day Weekend, May 23, 24, and 25. It made for a festive weekend of riders riding and spectators cheering in and around the already cycling-crazy town of Durango. The FLC campus also hosted the Morehart Murphy Subaru Circuit Race and the Mountain Bike Specialists Cross Country Race.
