Gleaning fruit trees [VIDEO]

Each fall, students from the Environmental Center help out Bear Smart Durango's Fruit Gleaning Program. Students and community members pick unwanted fruit from local trees to cut down on human-bear interactions and make juice, cider, and apple ice cream!

Smith Sports Complex

The , named after Professor Emeritus Duane Smith, is now open for local youth and FLC sports teams. The 15-acre facility is located on the northeast corner of campus.

Dr. Beth Dorman Award

Beth Dorman, associate professor of Teacher Education, received the 2016 Francis P. Hunkins Distinguished Article Award in Teaching from the American Association for Teaching and Curriculum.

Lindsay Sandoval

Lindsay Sandoval, a senior Biology major and former Miss Hozhoni, was crowned as the 2016 Miss Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial Queen, representing the Jicarilla Apache.

Chad Colby

Two paintings by Art and Design Professor Chad Colby were recently selected from a highly competitive field of 568 artists for display in Colorado Mesa University's Escalante Hall. Colby's paintings titled "Testwork" and "Retriever Room," will also become part of the State of Colorado's Public Art Collection.
