Kali Fajardo-Anstine, an author celebrated for shedding light on the overlooked stories and histories of Chicano and Latinx communities in the American West, will deliver the keynote address for Fort Lewis College’s 2024 Spring Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 4.

The day-long event brings together national policymakers, local experts, scientists, artists, and community members under a shared vision of environmental action and adaptation.

Fort Lewis College is awarding three professorships providing recipients with funding for high-impact, community-based projects.

The Walton Family Foundation today announced a second grant to the Tribal Water Media Fellowship Program.

The day began with a prayer. Outside the walls of Fort Lewis College’s Whalen Gymnasium, the site of this year's Hozhoni Days, singing and drum beats resonated, setting a reverent tone for the powwow.

“With a 27-year tenure of service to our College, Steve has the historical wisdom, financial acuity, political networks, and hard-earned trust of the Skyhawk community,” said Mary Rubadeau, chair of the FLC Board of Trustees, in an email to campus. “Steve will build upon our momentum as we launch the search for a permanent president.”  

After six years at the helm of Fort Lewis College, President Tom Stritikus is stepping down to become the President at Occidental College, a four-year liberal arts college in Los Angeles, Calif. 

Fort Lewis College was prominently featured this week at the 2nd Annual State of Native Agriculture Address by the Native American Agriculture Fund. The virtual event brings together farmers, ranchers, Tribal leaders, and community stakeholders to engage in critical discussions on the future of Native agriculture.
