Many students, staff, and faculty noticed the vibrant poster reminding the FLC community of Native American Heritage Month, a celebration of the cultural impact of Indigenous peoples. The poster’s design is the work of V. Barney, a senior studying Communication Design and Sports Administration.

That’s why social media marketing students at FLC work in tandem with local companies to develop new marketing strategies and campaigns.

No one can accuse Greyson Junggren of being lazy, even though he’s been just hanging out for most of his college career. For him, hanging out is a business endeavor—Junggren, a senior Economics major, runs a hammock company he founded and developed alongside his full-time studies at Fort Lewis College.

Three long-time FLC faculty members were recently honored for their commitment to teaching excellence and lengthy service. The Board of Trustees for Fort Lewis College awarded Professor Emeritus titles to Gordon Cheesewright, Professor of English; William Dodds, Professor of Marketing; and Ron Estler, Professor of Chemistry. Takayuki Ito's world changed during Spring Break last year. While he and his brother traveled in Puerto Rico, he first saw the footage of his hometown of Minamisoma, in Japan's Fukushima Prefecture, after it had been devastated by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, which killed an estimated 20,000 people in Japan.

"We feel it is entirely necessary to actually experience things rather than just read about them in a text book," says Simon Walls, Business professor and Faculty Lead on the "Cruise Line Industry Innovative Month."
