Fourteen FLC students spent their spring break getting some sun – but rather than soaking it up on a beach, they harnessed it to help power a remote community on the Navajo Nation in central New Mexico. Six Engineering students and eight student volunteers from a variety of disciplines spent the first week in March installing solar systems on the Counselor Chapter’s chapter house and on three residences.

Shandíín, the Navajo word for "sunbeam", documents their powerful work in service of others.

Even FLC President Tom Stritikus will be teaching a class! LAUNCH courses are designed to optimize the FLC experience, connecting first years students to our vibrant community of learners and our world-class mountains. Most importantly, LAUNCH will introduce new Skyhawks to the business of being a college student, and to teachers who will be their mentors, advocates and allies not only while at Fort Lewis, but for the rest of their lives.
