Each fall, students from the Environmental Center help out Bear Smart Durango's Fruit Gleaning Program. Students and community members pick unwanted fruit from local trees to cut down on human-bear interactions and make juice, cider, and apple ice cream!

The , named after Professor Emeritus Duane Smith, is now open for local youth and FLC sports teams. The 15-acre facility is located on the northeast corner of campus.
