    To more completely understand the boarding school era, FLC’s leadership, working directly with leaders of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, advocated for --state legislation that tasked History Colorado with investigating traumas inflicted upon Native American children at the Federal Indian Boarding Schools in the State of Colorado. The Bill also charged History Colorado to investigate the deaths and potential burial sites of the students who perished while attending the school.  Today, .     To more completely understand the boarding school era and as part of Fort Lewis College's reconciliation efforts, FLC’s leadership, working directly with leaders of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, advocated for Colorado House Bill 22-1327--state legislation that tasked History Colorado with investigating traumas inflicted upon Native American children at the Federal Indian Boarding Schools in the State of Colorado and to investigate the deaths and potential burial sites of the students who perished while attending the school. Martinez brings a methodical approach to higher education administration that will focus on addressing equity gaps in student outcomes, championing continued institutional transformation and innovation, and working alongside campus leaders, faculty, and staff to realize the academic goals of FLC’s strategic plan.

    Dr. Stritikus’ resume tells of a life dedicated to education and creating opportunities for students. He is coming to FLC from his position as deputy director of K-12 Education at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, where he has led funding initiatives in teacher prep, innovation and education.Previous to the Gates Foundation, Dr. Stritikus was dean of the College of Education at the University of Washington (UW), where he also taught.
