After graduating in 1988, Stephen Sullivan went on to earn success in the outdoor recreation and business realms. In 2011, he launched Stio, a direct-to-consumer, analytically driven, outdoor apparel company.

Ski-Soak-Ramen-Repeat was the itinerary on two recent Outdoor Pursuits trips to Japan for FLC students, alumni, and staff.

Three FLC students received the Seek Your Adventure award from Outdoor Pursuits to help them pull off the ultimate backcountry expedition.

Thanks to Kuss and a band of followers, students at Fort Lewis College today don’t have to ask those kinds of questions.

At its birth in 1977, Outdoor Pursuits was stuffed into a small room in the College Union Building. The fledging student club had available for use ten backpacks, ten sleeping bags, and ten tents. And that was it. In spite of its humble beginnings, Outdoor Pursuits today is housed in the Student Life Center and warehouses an expansive variety of outdoor gear, including skiing, backpacking, boating, and bicycling equipment.

On Saturday, September 24^th, FLC’s Outdoor Pursuits program began a two-day service project near Bluff, Utah. Sixteen members of the Fort Lewis College community -- thirteen students and three OP staff members -- comprised this hard-working group.

On Sunday, 80 new freshmen set out to learn about themselves and their peers in the rugged San Juan Mountains through a pre-orientation program called Peak Experiences.

Students involved in FLC's outdoor adventure club, Outdoor Pursuits, took off to three locations over their spring break: the wilds of Texas, southern California, and the Grand Canyon.

Now this is a wilderness-style graduation! That's not to say the walk down the stage in Whalen Gymnasium isn't lovely and powerful. But some graduates like to go out the same way they spent a good chunk of their time while at FLC: Rafting down a river, camping in the wilderness, and hanging with good friends who like the to do same.

Eight adventurous Outdoor Pursuits members had the spring break of a lifetime – they headed to Panama for a multi-day kayaking adventure. Check out their pictures.

Upon graduating many FLC alumni look to the horizon for more excitement, while also wanting to do some good in the world.
