Fort Lewis College offering area multicultural students the college experience

DURANGO – Fort Lewis College is reaching out to multicultural high school students from across the region with Latino College Day. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 13 at FLC and runs throughout the day.

Led by FLC’s and the , and supported by the Ballantine Family Fund, Latino College Day provides students with an opportunity to experience college life as they meet past, present and future FLC students from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Participants will learn how to apply and be admitted to college, attend a college service fair, a diversity education workshop, and hear addresses from FLC President Dene Thomas, as well as hip-hop artist and social justice advocate Adrian Molina.

Lunch will be provided by FLC, and El Centro de Muchos Colores students and staff will host a homemade dinner. The 5-7 p.m. dinner held at the multicultural center offers prospective students an opportunity to engage with current students and to hear their stories/struggles/successes. Guest speaker Adrian Molina will also attend the dinner before his live public performance, which starts at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Vallecito Room.
