Dear Skyhawk Community,
We are excited to provide an update on the search for Fort Lewis College’s next president. We have made significant progress in moving the process forward and would like to share some key developments with you.
Over the past two weeks, more than 200 faculty, students, staff, and community members, including the Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Council and Southern Ute Tribal Council, participated in listening sessions with our search firm, Buffkin/Baker.
We greatly appreciate everyone who took the time to share their input and suggestions. Inclusive governance is our priority, and we are committed to ensuring that all voices from our campus community are heard. To provide additional opportunities for those who couldn’t participate, Buffkin/Baker will host a second virtual listening session specifically for FLC faculty and staff on Wednesday, September 25, from 7 to 7:45 pm MT.

In addition to the listening sessions, the Presidential Search Committee held its first official meeting this week. During this meeting, we discussed the process for recruiting the next leader of Fort Lewis College. Once we finish collecting input from the listening sessions, we will finalize the presidential prospectus and begin formal recruitment based on the search profile.
The committee has outlined this estimated timeline for the search process, subject to change:
Stage 1 August-October Pre-search Preparation & Search Launch
Stage 2 October-January Recruitment & Application Review
Stage 3 February-March Interviews & Due Diligence
Stage 4 April-May Finalist Announcement & Campus Visit
