Gender-inclusive housing Fort Lewis College offers gender-inclusive housing to meet the diverse needs of our student body. Here's what you need to know: What is gender-inclusive housing? Gender-inclusive housing lets students choose roommates of any gender. This choice is about making sure students feel welcome no matter how they identify or express their gender. Gender-inclusive rooms are integrated throughout campus housing. For example, Escalante Hall has gender-inclusive rooms throughout the building. Escalante has men's, women's, and gender-inclusive bathrooms. Why do we have gender-inclusive housing? Students want more freedom in choosing their roommates. Not everyone fits into 'male' or 'female' categories. Gender-inclusive housing is for students looking for another option. We want to ensure everyone can find a housing option that feels right for them. Living here means respecting everyone. You must follow all housing rules and help make a positive and respectful community. Eligibility and application process To apply for gender-inclusive housing: Application: Complete the housing application and select "Gender-Inclusive Housing." Room selection: Choose your preferred room. This can be a single room or a unit with other gender-inclusive students. Roommate preference: If you have a preferred roommate, let us know who they are. We strive to match roommates based on these mutual requests. Parental consent: If you're under 18, a parent or guardian's permission is required. Flexibility: Whether you prefer more privacy or wish to be part of a community, we cater to your preferences. Change of plans? If your situation changes or you'd like to move, you can request a room change anytime.
