Welcome to a new year and a new semester at Fort Lewis College. The snow and the students are back on campus!
We held our New Student Orientation during the week of the snowstorms in Durango, which complicated matters. Yet with some quick scheduling changes and a lot of hard work from the Orientation staff, Housing, Campus Dining and others, the event ran very well. In fact, the number of attendees for this year’s Orientation increased by 20 percent! Thank you to the faculty and staff, as well as the new students and their families, who made the event a success.
And speaking of success, I want to offer my thanks and congratulations to the 2005 Skyhawks Men’s Soccer team as they are officially inducted into the Skyhawks Hall of Fame on January 24 at the Henry Strater Theater. This team went undefeated and brought home FLC’s first NCAA national championship. It will be wonderful to welcome back the players and coaches and celebrate the legacy they began for the Skyhawk student-athletes who would follow after them.
