The strategic enrollment planning (SEP) process is rolling along. The SEP working groups met for the first time this past Friday and Saturday to get introduced to the SEP system that Ruffalo Noel Levitz brings. The working groups will continue to meet as often as they need through the summer and into the fall.

I want to thank all of you who submitted strategic enrollment planning ideas. Over 200 ideas were collected dealing with all aspects of college life. It will now be the job of the working groups to create business plans for the most promising ideas. Once that’s done, the business plans will be evaluated in order to select the ideas to be implemented.

At this time, there is no set number of plans that will be selected. Obviously, we can’t do all of them. We may choose several smaller or mid-sized ideas, or we may do just one or two big ideas. That determination will come after all the ideas have been examined more closely. We might also find ideas that can be acted upon without a great deal of work or investment. Those ideas will be given directly to the appropriate director for them to implement.

We have a lot of work to do, but this is an exciting time for Fort Lewis College. I deeply appreciate how we have all joined together to identify and take advantage of the opportunities that will move us forward.

Sincerely,

Dene Thomas
President, Fort Lewis College
