I am pleased to announce that the Colorado Department of Higher Education has approved Fort Lewis College to offer Bilingual Specialist Endorsements in both the Spanish and Navajo languages for our students. FLC has offered a Spanish endorsement before, and now we are the only school in Colorado to offer the Navajo endorsement.
These endorsements are one way that Fort Lewis College serves the needs of the Southwest. A significant number of students in P-12 schools across the region come from households that do not speak English as the primary language. Offering a Bilingual Specialist Endorsement gives FLC Teacher Education graduates a special understanding in working with these children, as well as an acknowledgement that sets them apart in the job market.
