On November 30, world leaders gathered in Paris, France, for climate talks. In that spirit, I am pleased to announce that Fort Lewis College has met our goal of reducing campus carbon emissions by 20 percent. In fact, we reduced our emissions by 21 percent!

The goal was set forth when we signed on to the Second Nature Climate Commitment. Since 2010, FLC efforts have meant a reduction of the equivalent of over 3,200 tons of carbon dioxide. In addition, the energy efficiency upgrades that contributed to our reduction in emissions will save the College money over the coming years. This was a win-win!

Meeting our goal was a significant investment for FLC, not only in money, but also in time and effort. Thank you to those who worked so hard to make it happen!

Sincerely,

Dene Thomas
President, Fort Lewis College
