I want to wish Michael and Daniel Martin, the winners of the 2017 Fort Lewis College Hawk Tank Business Plan Competition, the best of luck as they strike out on their winning business idea: Nitrum Dynamic Paint.

A requirement of any company is to make money to stay in business, and that’s certainly true of Nitrum Dynamic Paint, but the Martin brothers are focused on so much more. Their company will be partnering with the mentally and physically disabled in order to deepen the good Nitrum Dynamic Paint can do.

Michael and Daniel exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit that we strive to instill in our students at FLC. Often the term “entrepreneur” is considered a business term, but it applies to anyone who has a vision, sets a goal, takes the initiative, and creates something that can help make the lives of others better. I hope that more of our students, regardless of what they’re studying or their future plans, will be entrepreneurs.

Sincerely,

Dene Thomas
