This week we celebrate our new Fort Lewis College Featured Scholar Dawn Mulhern. I want to add my congratulations as well.
The Featured Scholar award is one of FLC’s most prestigious. It recognizes a faculty member who has made an outstanding contribution to society through their scholarship and research.
Dr. Mulhern, associate professor and chair of the Fort Lewis College Anthropology Department, is certainly worthy of this honor. She has conducted important research to better understand the history of the Four Corners. She’s also worked in modern day forensics, including working in Pennsylvania after September 11.
This kind of service and research is integral to Fort Lewis College’s mission. Professors who are active in research add a whole new level to the education they offer their students. The chance to do meaningful research at the undergraduate level is one of the reasons why so many of our students find success once they graduate.
