Coach Bob Hofman is one of the most remarkable coaches in Fort Lewis College’s history and his 19 years at the helm of the Skyhawk Men’s Basketball Team is a milestone to be celebrated. After Coach Hofman notified the administration of his retirement in May, we began discussing how to best honor his contribution to Fort Lewis College Athletics, while at the same time having a leadership structure for men’s basketball that would best serve the team moving forward.

In the end, we chose to name Coach Hofman as coach emeritus and promote Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach Bob Pietrack to interim head coach for the 2015-16 season. This would allow Coach Hofman to continue working with the team on an abbreviated schedule (as required by Colorado’s Public Employees' Retirement Association) during his transition year, and allow Coach Pietrack to take over the full time head coaching responsibilities that are necessary to run a successful program.

Thank you, Coach Hofman, for an incredible 19 years, and good luck to Coach Pietrack as he leads Skyhawk Men’s Basketball into the future!
