    The little things in life

Throughout my years in college, I have noticed an ability I have.  Whether going home or when my family comes and visits, I can turn into a kid again. I value the little things that parents do; that engulfs my heart with warmth. Family has always been an extremely important aspect in my life, so when I moved six hours away I did not know how it would feel being far away from home. The truth is, being in college is all about developing a new routine.

To give some background, I am writing this in anticipation of my family coming into town.  I am looking forward to all the fun that is in store, and all the little things that come with a visit. Like the food! Who would have thought that the excitement of having family in town or being home equals a full stomach and a grocery shopping trip? I never realized the importance of free food and family until I was unable to see them every day.

It is a great feeling having my parents come to my town and my home and my campus, showing them everything that I am building my life around. Throughout college, I have changed a lot; the time between 18 and 22 years old is such a transformational time. As I enter into the preliminarily stages of adulthood, I have begun to value the little things. This includes: being able to see my animals when I go home, as well as sleeping in my bed, and relaxing with the total joy of doing nothing. I also see that being six hours away from home is not the end of the world. It allows you to develop yourself and then have a phenomenal time when you have visitors!
